“Many hotels offer their guests a watered down version of the entertainment they have at home, yet travelers represent a significant portion of the country’s disposable income,” said PervasiveTV co-founder Ron Bloom in a statement. “We are bringing hotel guests a completely new viewing experience … that starts with the in-room screen and extends to any connected device.”

The explosion of content is now expanding beyond the screens in our living rooms and on our mobile devices: PervasiveTV, a new entertainment network, is aiming to fill the thousands of screens at well-traveled areas like airports with targeted news and entertainment content.

PervasiveTV founders Ron Bloom and Lynwood Bibbens have partnered with screen owners to fill them with original content, with the goal of reaching 100 million viewers across 1,000 screens by the end of 2016.

“Our simple insight was that it is not the device that is mobile, it is the person,” said Bloom, who recently exited as CEO of BiteSize TV, having completed a sale of the company to Lin Media. “By connecting the screens that people pass every day, we can reach millions of viewers in the only environment where we control the remote.”

While more and more traditional TV providers are looking for ways to get a foothold in the streaming video space, digital-native producers are still eager to make the jump to linear TV, where the bucks are bigger and the spotlight is brighter.

BiteSizeTV founder and CEO Ron Bloom is one of those who have made the leap. His entertainment magazine show “Hollywood Today Live” debuted online in November 2013. In the summer of 2014, it scored a six-week test run as a daily, syndicated, one-hour show airing on Fox-owned television stations in nine markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Charlotte. This fall, it returned with a full season order from Fox and a much larger distribution footprint.

FROM HUFFINGTON POST
Charles Karel Bouley

“Ron Bloom doesn’t have to be in the entertainment industry. In fact, given his track record for making money for a lot of people, he really doesn’t have to do much. And yet, here he is, literally in the heart of Hollywood at the BiteSizeTV studios on the main floor of the W Hotel right on Hollywood Blvd.”

FROM FORBES.COM
Greg Satell
Contributor

“Many regard TV as a dinosaur of the past. With the rise of social media and other new technology platforms, new media types predict that its days are numbered, soon to be buried under an avalanche of disruptive change.

Yet it lives on, despite the skeptics. In fact, it thrives. TV programming has never been more diverse or of higher quality. My 3-year old learns math concepts on Team Umizoomi while I never miss an episode of Game of Thrones.”

Sama Hamedy

At first glance, the set of “Hollywood Today Live” looks like just another entertainment talk show. Four hosts — Kristen Brockman, AJ Gibson, Tanner Thomason and Porscha Coleman — sit next to one another on a studio stage at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, discussing everything from upcoming movies to celebrity Tweets for one hour every day. “Let’s get the party started,” Thomason said to the camera after the hosts outlined the program’s topics of the day: Kim Kardashian’s video game, “Woman Crush Wednesday” picks, a review of “Sex Tape” and other segments. ‘Hollywood Today Live’

But unlike programs such as “Entertainment Tonight” or “Access Hollywood,” “Hollywood Today Live” is a Web-inspired talk show with fresh-faced hosts who cater to the millennial crowd. The series began in 2012 as an online show for BiteSize TV, a new network that streams, produces and distributes a wide range of programming on its website.

Last week, the series made its network television debut on Fox, which also is producing the show, marking the first time that the network has tested or launched a program based on an online production.
